The roof is being stripped and mended. You can see some of the work the previous owners did. A little excessive if you ask me.

A view from the top.	This entire area is banged in. Will take lots of shaping and patience to fix.
Half way sanded down.	Fully sanded.
Lots of old bondo dust falling onto the hood.

So for now the roof is being worked on. It is the last major part of the body that needs work. The rest of the vehicle will be finished quickly since there is very little body damage.

The sun is out again and so am I. Here are some updates images of the Beetle. I finished up the worst fender, and then stripped down and primed the hood/bonnet with etching primer. I apologize in advance for any awkward formatting on this page. For some reason, wordpress is not letting me arrange anything properly. I had to put everything into tables just so it’s readable. You can click on the pictures to see their full size.

I got tired of being cooked by the sun, so I bought a little canopy to work under. It has made my work ooooh so much more enjoyable! It was ~$50 USD at Wal-Mart.

	If you look back to previous images, you can see how bad this fender looked.

The next part I worked on was the hood/bonnet. I banged out the dents, stripped it down to metal, applied Bondo where needed, and then covered it in etching primer.

Next step: the roof.

My dad has a ’69 VW that has been parked for a while and so we thought we’d try and see what the rims on his look like on this ’72. Turns out they look pretty good!!! I think it gives him a more punchy look.

So I finally got the car of my dreams Yeah, he’s not looking the best of shape right now, but give me time!!! This is Herbie, and yes, when I’m done with him, he will look like Herbie too I’ve been obsessed with Herbie since I was a little kid, and I’ve wanted my own little LoveBug ever since. I’m really excited to finally have this opportunity.

Below are some pics I took before we cleaned him up. He was sitting in someone’s backyard and being used as a paintball practice target. Very sad…  But things are looking bright for the little guy!
